Maybe. Who knows? I would say maybe Jhonen Vazquez isn't the type to be in places like MySpace

Yeah, honestly I can't see Vasquez being into anything like Myspace after having read JTHM...

Yeah, honestly I can't see Vasquez being into anything like Myspace after having read JTHM... I'd like to point out that not being into something doesn't mean you wouldn't do it. Having a myspace site means a huge publicity boost for the likes of him. Anyway don't you people think it's kinda insolent to believe you understand someone because of a comic he drew? Last time I checked, comics didn't mirror ones soul...
That's just a figure of speech, I like to state here that I don't at all believe in the existence of souls.[/size]

Yeah, you have a point. Besides, there's nothing explicit in JTHM to the effect of being against Myspace, just a general disdain for pop culture in many of its forms. Vasquez does have a lot of those personal monologues which seemed to me to indicate a certain perspective he has about the world. A particular level of anti-sociality and anti-conformity that I found a little incompatible with blogging. But as you say, even the monologues, though they're supposed to be the voice of Vasquez himself and not his characters, aren't necessarily an accurate indication of his views. There's a good chance they were largely fudged or embellished or twisted to suit the feel of the comic better. I suppose I mostly don't WANT him to be on myspace, because I hate all forms of blogging like poison, and knowing he had a myspace would just lessen my opinion of him. It's narrow-minded and bigoted of me to think like that, I know. It's just the way my mind works sometimes when I don't catch myself doing it in time...

And he doesn't want many mails involving bad things that would sicken him. No one would like to see JV angry. You wouldn't like it when he gets angry.

No matter what you say, JV has a MySpace page. That's a fact.
End of Story.
Anyway what kind of logic is that, people?
Just because you don't want it to be true it's a lie?
I don't want genocide to happen, but still people commit it.

Wait a minute ^^; Guys, who cares about whether he has a page or not. We can't have a fight over something like this. Let's just leave it at "he might have a myspace page" if we can't help but get argumentative, alright?

We're getting argumentative? I honestly just saw it as a straight-forward discussion... I didn't see this as "fighting" in any way... :/ *Must hang out in some pretty rough joints elsewhere*
And for the record, I was never actually implying that I didn't think Jhonen had a myspace page just because I don't want him to. I originally said that I thought it unlikely because of some of the messages he brought across in JHTM, but in my last post I agreed that that doesn't mean anything becase, ultimately, it is just a work of fiction. I elaborated by explaining that the reason I drew these conclusions is because I didn't want Vasquez to have a myspace. I realized the error of my ways, in other words. I can't comment on whether or not he has a myspace because I haven't seen the site and I don't intend to. Besides which, I don't know Vasquez personally and it's naive of me to think I understand him as a person in any way.
Sorry if this is argumentative. I'm just trying to explain myself...

THAT was argumentative. Your explanation is not at all argumentative. That last reply I just showed you was slightly insulting, which is slightly more insulting than this argument calls for, because really, we shouldn't be able to care less about whether a guy has a myspace or not. If we were arguing about religion, then a little heat might be in order. When talking about one guy and his myspace...no snappy comebacks should occur ^^

I'll stick to my statement.
point is, I like people to think before they post even if it's about insignificant things.
Well that actually only stands true for one person's comment here, I wont name that one, so...
I'm sorry.
Ignorance hits a pretty short fuse in me..
